Our Programs - Hand Cycling and Bike Riding:
FEATURED EVENTS:
We have just returned from a bike ride in Belgium and the Netherlands commemorating the 66th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden otherwise known as "A Bridge Too Far." We were able to take nine wounded Soldiers and Marines and we rode about 350 miles. We were hosted to a Concert for Heroes at Twickenden Stadium which benefited Help For Heroes, a non profit organization which helps the wounded British and Scottish Soldiers and Royal Marines. We rode with about 200 people who were supporting the ride and we began our trip at St. Pancreas Station where we caught the Eurostar to Brussels. On Sept 13th we began our ride in Brussels and onto Leuven, Antwerp, Einhoven, Nijmegen and onto Arnhem. Operation Market Garden was planned in two weeks and was the largest paratroop drop in history and the first day time drop. Involved in the Operation were Polish, British and American troops (82nd and 101st Airborne.) They were trying to take five bridges, four were successful but the last bridge proved to be "A Bridge Too Far."
Each day, it seemed we had a memorial service for those who had fought and died in Operation Market Garden. As we rode, you could not help but think of the beautiful fields we passed and thinking of the battles that took place in September 1944 and the many heroes of yesteryear.
Riding with the British wounded troops was a wonderful experience and it was great to meet new friends. After the ride we had the privilege of visiting Headley Court where the wounded British and Scottish troops rehabilitate. I want to thank all those who supported us in this ride!
We will be posting some great pictures of our ride shortly so please stay tuned.
