ICE HOCKEY!!!  IT’S ALL THE RAMPAGE!!!

January 22, twenty-four rowdy warriors came out to play sled hockey and do a little slippin’ and slidin’ at the Northwoods Ice Rink located near 281 and 1604.   Our team will be meeting between 1:00 and 3:00 pm on Mondays. 

The team name is the Rampage, as the local Rampage Hockey Team is sponsoring us.  A very generous bunch, they are donating all of our gear and our guys are going to make them proud!

As of today, we have 10 sleds so the team players are taking turns.  We may be a little short on sleds but we’re long on coaching.  Lonnie Hannah, a paralympian hockey player,  has moved to this area and has volunteered to be our coach.  Future plans will be to build a team so that we can compete with other sled hockey teams in Dallas and Houston.

Mark your calendars for February 23 and ya’ll come out to the San Antonio Rampage hockey game for Military Appreciation Night.  (The San Antonio Rampage vs. Chicago Wolves at the AT&TCenter.  Game time is 7:00 pm.)  The proceeds from the game go to Operation Comfort, the SoldierFamilyAssistanceCenter and the Fisher Houses.  Our guys will be out on the ice for about 20 minutes that evening playing sled hockey.

The Ice Hockey team is a 3-way effort and receives support from the San Antonio Rampage hockey team, Operation Comfort and the San AntonioParks and Recreation.
